As said, I quite like the LR workflow in general, so similarities would be good, but not mandatory. So, does anyone have experience with ON1, especially after using LR? Are there any gotchas with features or quality? I'm not really asking to compare with other solutions than LR. ON1 also advertise LR migration tools, which would considerably ease the migration. Also the purchase price is cheap, a permanent licence for less than one year's photo plan from Adobe. ON1 seems to have at least rudimentary "photoshop" features that would probably meet my occasional needs. Fuji film simulations are there (didn't really compare with the camera jpegs yet), and so are pretty much all the LR features that I frequently use. I'm now trying ON1 Photo Raw 2019.2 and it felt quite good straight from the first try. I installed the trial version a while back but somehow didn't get into it.

I did update my Nvidia drivers and both Win10 and LR should be up-to-date.Ĭapture One has been highly regarded by forum members. Some google results hinted that using display profiles might have something to do with this, but I just have no energy to start figuring out the root cause. I have tried this with the cheapest Quadro K620 that I normally use and also a GTX970 gaming card. And again, I feel like I'm paying for the accelerated version. Disabling graphics acceleration solves this but visibly slows down LR. The preview looks different (sometimes less, sometime more) in Library and Develop modules. Since some recent update (of LR, Windows 10, or Nvidia drivers) there is an annoying bug, which changes photo preview rendering in the Develop module when graphics acceleration is enabled. Feels like I'm paying half of my annual fee for almost nothing. The first is the simple fact that I don't use Photoshop much. However, two issues have been bugging me recently, which is why I have been considering alternative solutions. Would be great of Adobe to offer a permanent fall-back licence to some version, though, like so many subscription services do.

It's always a good idea to keep software up-to-date. If you use both LR and Photoshop actively then the photographer plan is quite good value especially for professional use (I'm a hobbyist). On top of these functions, you get masking abilities and various other retouching functions. The program provides basic photo editing tools such as adjusting the exposure, contrast, and others. I quite like LR (gotten used to it most likely) and don't really mind the subscription model. ON1 Photo RAW is a photo editing software that provides a space to transform your RAW photographs into final images. I have been using Lightroom (classic) with the Adobe subscription plan for years.
